This concert focused on the driving forces behind our life’s purpose. Objects of love and devotion and the voice of the muse are covered in the settings of the text from Song of Solomon in Ivo Antognini’s I am the Rose of Sharon, Healey Willan’s Rise Up My Fair One, and Ola Gjeilo’s Northern Lights. Our purpose as found in marriage and work are sung in Kathleen Skinner’s Benediction and Rene Clausen's Set Me as a Seal. Divine presence is the unifying theme among settings of Alleluia, Sydney Guillaume’s Ego Sum and Jason Shelton’s Come Unto Me. Additional pieces to broaden the stylistic programming include Claude Janequin’s Chant des Oiseaux and Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Suite de Lorca.
